Men's Groom Guide

Men's grooming guides for U.S. shoppers: razors and trimmers, beard trimmers, kits and tools, blade care and early-December sales.

About Us

A word from the editor

Derek Hollis, Editor. Derek spent ten years managing a department store grooming section in Ohio, demonstrating shavers and trimmers to customers of every kind. Most of the returns he handled had nothing wrong with the machine. They had the wrong head or the wrong kit, which is why this site starts with the hair.

Why this site exists

Grooming tools are chosen in a rush, often as a gift, and judged after a week of irritation or a battery that will not hold a charge. The label promises a close shave or a sharp line, and the box rarely says which head, blade or guard does the work.

Matching the tool to your hair and skin, understanding what the head and blade actually do and buying a kit that will be used are the things that decide whether the purchase is a success.

Who it is for

Men across the United States choosing a shaver or trimmer for themselves, and people buying a grooming kit as a gift.

Everything here lives in one category, Men’s Grooming: electric razors, beard trimmers, grooming kits, replacement heads and blades, cleaning routines and early-December buying.

Our boundaries

Skin conditions and medical care. We do not diagnose irritation or recommend treatment. See a physician or dermatologist for persistent problems.

Product safety certifications. We explain what labels generally mean but do not verify any product’s safety or compliance.

Warranty and return disputes. We explain common terms. We do not interpret your agreement.

How we work

  • We start from the hair and the routine. Coarse hair, sensitive skin and a daily routine each point to a different head or setting.
  • We read the replacement costs. Heads, blades and foils are the recurring spend, and we show how to total them.
  • We say when a basic tool is enough. A simple trimmer does a lot of the work for many men, and we say so.
  • We name the trade-off. Wet and dry use, closeness and comfort pull against each other. We explain the balance.
  • We update rather than repost. Models change each year. The article is revised when the lineup does.

Funding and independence

Men’s Groom Guide is free to read and is supported by display advertising, plus affiliate links on some pages. If you use an affiliate link and buy something, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Advertisers do not see our articles before publication and have no influence over them; ads are placed automatically by third-party networks. Affiliate commissions do not decide our recommendations either — much of our advice is to replace the head and keep the handle, which is the least profitable advice a grooming site can give. The full disclosure is on our Disclaimer page.

Corrections policy

Models, replacement parts and promotions change, and we occasionally miss a revision. If something here is wrong, send it through our contact form with a source. We will verify it, correct the article, and record what changed and when.

Contact

Questions, disagreements and topic suggestions are welcome through our Contact page. We cannot judge your skin or hair from a description, but we can usually tell you which two details to check before you buy.
